Is a Strip Club Bachelor Party Appropriate?

If you're deep in preparation to get married, your friends (or those of your fiancée) are probably planning a bachelor party. And if you're reading this article, the prospect of planning it around a visit to a strip club has at least been thrown out there as a suggestion. Different couples are bound to see this in their own ways. Some couples have no problem at all. They treat a visit to such an establishment as being no different than going to see a movie with nudity in it. Others see it as cheating, full stop. The issue of its appropriateness is therefore difficult to pin down, but here's a look at some of the issues.
Going Out With the Guys
Let's face it: even this is enough to set some women off. This isn't intended to be an attack on women, either. There are plenty of men out there who are possessive enough to put an end to "girl's night out". This article just happens to be from the other point of view. Truth be told, if your significant other's problem with a night at the strip club is primarily centered around the fact that you won't be home with her, you may have a problem brewing. This is something you should have a serious discussion about before you go further down the road to matrimony.
The Last Night of Freedom
The reason the strip club is a frequent favorite for bachelor parties is due to this notion of, "Oh, enjoy it now, because this is your last night of freedom, bro." Let's get serious here. Your last night of freedom was a long time ago. If you're in a relationship serious enough to walk down the aisle in a day or two, any indiscretions will be just as damaging now as they will be in a week. While it's okay to go out with this fantasy of "the last free night", don't let it get into your head or you could be asking for trouble.
Contact
This is where you have to be careful, even if your fiancée is fine with you enjoying a night at the strip club for your bachelor party. If your friends aren't completely worthless, they're probably going to buy you a lap dance or two. It's up to you to set the boundaries. If you're going to a classy place, you won't have to worry about things getting completely out of hand. If you're going to some shady dive, who knows? Don't do anything you wouldn't want your fiancée to hear about later.

Strip Clubs: Enjoy Your Experience With These Tips

It amuses people when you mention that there is a certain etiquette to enjoying strip clubs. Etiquette! In a place where the entire point is to sit and ogle women who are taking their clothes off for your enjoyment? Believe it or not, it exists. In fact, it not only exists but it can severely hamper your ability to have a good time if you choose to ignore it. Now, it may not be your fault. You may not have ever heard that there was any such way to behave. Consider this your exposure. Here are some tips that will help you have a better time the next time you hit the joints in your town.
First Tip: Tip
The best tip you can get about having a good time in strip clubs is plainly that: tip. Every night some joker is going to come through the door with just enough to buy a drink and pay the cover charge. He'll watch the dancers until the sun comes up, but he won't part with a single crinkly dollar for the entertainment. Simply put: don't be that guy. Even if the club allows you to be cheap (and many of them will), you're basically no better than the guy who stiffs his waiter or pizza delivery driver. If you do those things as well, consider a major mindset change.
Dress Well
If you were heading to your favorite dance club to potentially hook up, would you wear sweatpants and a stained shirt? Doubtful. Yet many guys think it's okay to walk into strip clubs wearing something that would be more suited to painting the garage. Have some self-respect. No, you're not going to walk out with a dancer's phone number, regardless of how you dress. That doesn't mean you can't make an effort. Some of the higher tier clubs will turn you away at the door for shabby dress.
Keep Your Hands To Yourself
It's a disrespectful way to think about it, but compare strip clubs to zoos if you must. How long do you think you would be allowed to stay at the zoo if you were leaning over the railing, attempting to pet every exotic animal you came across? The same is more or less true for these establishments. You are free to look all you want. Unless you've been given the explicit go-ahead, though, your attempts to touch are going to be met with severe disapproval. In many cases, this means being thrown out. Don't tempt the bouncer to spring into action.

Strip Clubs - What Not To Do When You Go

In general, strip clubs are usually fairly laid back places to visit. After all, this isn't Disney World. This is an establishment that, while it enjoys a rich history in the United States and around the world, certainly isn't quite "mainstream." It's adult entertainment for people who would rather watch beautiful women dance than sit at your average bar staring at the mirror. On the other hand, to say there are no rules would certainly be a mischaracterization. Most places have very strict rules to follow. Disobey them, and you'll be asked to leave. There are some other, unwritten rules, though, that you should be just as careful to avoid breaking.
Don't Stare At Others
When a person makes their first foray into the strip clubs, they expect the etiquette to be more or less the same as any other bar. While staring would probably fall into the "don't do that" category at any public place, it is to be especially avoided at these establishments. No matter how high-scale the place, there is a certain level of embarrassment that comes with visiting for some people. And these people don't want to feel as though they're on display. This is especially true when there is something that should be worth more of your attention on the stage.
Avoid Excessive Chatting
It's only natural to start talking to the dancers when they come over to you. That's fine, but many men take it far past the natural state. These men fall into one of two categories. One, they are uncomfortable and just want to bring some normalcy into the situation by chatting about this or that. This is understandable. The other category is men who believe they have a chance. There's nothing wrong with flirting with the dancers. That is, after all, somewhat of the point. Getting aggressive about it or trying to get phone numbers is another matter entirely. Save your pride, avoid embarrassment, and give the dancers a break. Leave your game face at home and just enjoy the entertainment.
Don't Be Cheap
You don't need to take out a second mortgage to afford a night out at the strip clubs, but you also shouldn't look at it as a night of cheap entertainment, either. Even if you have little interest in getting a lap or table dance, you should be at the stage, handing out tips. Make sure you bring plenty of ones. The dancers, and the management, take a dim view of those who arrive with a tight grip on their wallet.

Strip Clubs And Why Men Like Them So Much

Those not in the know often have a certain picture of the men who enjoy going to strip clubs. They imagine sleazy guys in trench coats and wide-brimmed hats, sneaking through a dark parking lot with sunglasses hiding a face covered in a week's worth of grizzled chin fur. In actuality, nothing could be further from the truth. Take a trip to one of the preeminent nude establishments in town and you'll find guys of all stripes taking in the entertainment. You'll even see a few women joining in the fun. But what is it about these places that men like so much? Let's examine the issue.
Freedom
Women in relationships often have the hardest time understanding why their men want to go to strip clubs. After all, are they not getting enough of what they need at home? But for most men, it has little to do with comparing the girls on stage with the woman they love. It has everything to do with freedom. And that's not just freedom from the "shackles" of a committed relationship. It's freedom from everything: the grind of a daily job, the responsibilities awaiting them at home, and the expectations society puts on a man. For just a few hours, all of that can be put aside. Does that make it okay for a guy to spend every night watching strippers instead of spending it with his wife? Probably not, but it's an insight.
Pressure Release
Everyone needs a way to blow off steam. Our lives today are filled with pressure. Pressure to get ahead at work, to raise good children, to keep the lawn looking the way it should. Some people release this pressure by lifting weights. Others prefer video games or sitting down with some crochet. And some men prefer to go to the strip clubs to release that valve. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone, why should it matter? Exotic dancers provide the ultimate in harmless adult entertainment. If it allows a man to forget about all of that weight on his shoulders for a few hours, it can hardly be demonized.
Male Bonding
While some men may like to visit strip clubs on their own, it's safe to say that most would rather go with a group of their friends. This is male bonding in its purest form. Guys are raised differently. To sit around talking about feelings and philosophy would be very unusual for the typical group of men. Instead, it's like a first date. You need something to do that doesn't include actually having to talk to each other for extended periods of time. Strip clubs fill this role in an almost perfect way.

The Strip Club And The Employment Opportunities For Men

Did you think that the strip club was a worthless place to look for a job as a man? While it's true that there may be fewer employment opportunities for those of the masculine sex, there are more jobs for the men then you might think. You probably aren't going to be asked to be a feature dancer anytime soon, but these establishments need more than strippers to make the place a success. Someone has to do the other jobs. It might as well be you. Here are some of the employment opportunities you may not have thought about.
Bouncer
Even the classiest strip club in town is going to need at least one bouncer working at all times. Regardless of how well behaved the clientele usually is and how laid-back the atmosphere, someone is eventually going to get out of line. This is simply what happens when you combine hormones, alcohol, and naked women. Being a bouncer isn't for everyone, of course. If you tend to shy away from confrontation, it might not be the job for you. If you're a tough guy when you need to be, however, you'll fit in just fine.
Working the Booth
Becoming a DJ isn't just something you jump right into, but if you have some experience with the turntables, you might find gainful employment in a strip club. Dancers can be beautiful, graceful, and athletic, but if they don't have some thumping beats behind them, they are going to look silly up on stage. The advent of portable music players and various other forms of technology has put the onus on the DJ to earn his right to keep a job. It's a lot cheaper to just make an iPod playlist, after all. If you have skills beyond pushing a button, however, there are probably some places that could use them.
Bartender
A strip club without alcohol is doomed to failure before it begins. This is why clubs in cities where ordinances were passed demanding decreased nudity or loss of an alcohol license, the owners quickly caved. You might be able to find a joint somewhere that chose nudity over alcohol, but it won't be an easy search. People want to drink while they're out and management wants the money those sales bring in. As a bartender in this environment, you're going to have to compete with the girls for your share of the tips, but customers are ready to hand out their money in any case. You should do well.
